Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral from my doctor to see a Physiotherapist?

No. Physiotherapists are first line care givers. Many extended insurance companies require a doctor’s prescription in order to reimburse you, but our clinic does not need a referral in order to treat you.

(New Question) Can Physiotherapists now order X-Rays (including chest), CT scans and MRI's?

Registered Physiotherpists in Ontario will be able to order all three as soon as the rostering system with the College of Physiotherapists is created. This should be completed by March 2012. Under the new Bill Physiotherapists are now able to make a full diagnosis of injury.

Is Physiotherapy covered by OHIP at Be In Motion Physiotherapy?

No. We are a private Physiotherapy clinic. If you require an OHIP clinic in Oakville we would be able to help. Patients who require OHIP Physiotherapy need to be 18 years old or less or 64 years old or more.

How can I find out if I am covered by my extended insurance company?

  • Look in your extended health booklet
  • Call your insurance company
  • Check with your company’s Human Resources department

Will you direct bill my extended insurance Company?

No. You pay us and submit your receipts to your insurance company who will reimburse you directly.

How does payment work?

We collect payment at the end of each week for your treatments. We accept cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard and Debit.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

  • Review of your medical history
  • Orthopaedic assessment of your injury
  • Explanation of your injury and diagnosis
  • Treatment and home exercises
  • Discussion regarding goals and treatment plan

How many times will I need to see my Physiotherapist?

It depends. Every injury is unique so length of treatment varies. After your initial assessment your Physiotherapist will give you an estimated length and course of treatment.

How long is each treatment session?

Treatments vary in duration.  They are anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

What if I have to cancel an appointment?

We require one full business day’s notice if you have to cancel or change an appointment. If you do not give sufficient notice there is a $20 charge that must be paid prior to your next treatment.

What should I wear to physiotherapy?

You should wear something comfortable and stretchy that will enable your therapist to easily access the area that is being treated. If you need to change (i.e. into shorts or a t-shirt) we have a several change rooms.
